Twenty-three years ago, Wonderful knew nothing about business. Aside from a childhood foray (ask her about the earning potential of mismatched hairclips sometime) and an entrepreneurial heritage, she had no idea how to run the martial arts studio that fell into her lap. But with signature Wonderful moxy, she dove right in and embraced the thrill of the unknown. But she didn't do it alone. Early on she knew that in order to build a successful independent studio, she would need mentors in business and the industry, she would need education and training. So, she searched the country for successful studio owners who would share their experiences with her. She attended any classes, trainings, courses that could teach her more about marketing, finance, sales, or branding, until 10 years into her entrepreneurial journey, she decided to go back to school for a full-on business degree. That education, along with her so-far decade of experience, taught her how to build her independent studio into a rarity in the industry. Taught her how to capitalize on what is usually a life-long tie and, two decades on, sell her studio as a viable business in its own right when she needed to step back to focus on her family. But Wonderful couldn't escape the world of business. Female entrepreneurs kept coming to her for advice during this new season, and she found that she liked to give it. Championing other women in their business ventures was the perfect outlet for the warrior spirit that drew her to martial arts and the leadership experience she'd gained on her own business journey.
